I can tell you something you will never see me post on purpose. A picture of me with Gaudy cars and hot girls with the backdrop of my mansion and Jet, and photoshopped any and all imperfections. If you do see me start posting these types of pictures, you know I have gone off track and you should run away as fast as you can.
I was reading an email I just received from someone I thought I admired. Until I saw his graphic opening. It was him standing against his mammoth ultra-expensive vehicle, his huge home, and accoutrements in the background.
I would never do that.
I believe I’m a relatively ethical marketer and educator. I tell it like it is, and don't boast about my own accomplishments in life. I believe you compel people to want your products and services based on the value they deliver, the benefits they produce for the audience, and the distinctive advantage or performance superiority they offer above and beyond the maddening crowd of choices out there.
I would never choose an expert because of the car they stood next to, or the home they show in the background, or the hot people they’ve got surrounding themselves. And I’d like to hope you wouldn’t too. But I know that attracts some people. Just so you know, you will never catch me doing of that nature, and if I do, make sure you call for help, I have probably bumped my head and need medical attention.
This is not a sales pitch cleverly trying to move you over to some crass “make-a-million overnight in your underwear” offer.
Nor is it trying to sell you ANYTHING. Except perhaps to argue against selling out your dignity and good sense for the allure of trappings that are probably just rented, leased, borrowed, or photoshopped, rather than real assets as the promoter wants you to perceive. Real estate is full of overnight gurus, and the showiness of cars, homes, jets and woman are usually the tell tale sign of someone who has nothing real to help you with. So be warned!
Judge your experts on the merit of their track records, their body of proprietary— meaning original (not emulated) work. Their integrity, ethos, and authenticity.
I think their humility and humanity should be factored in that quotient, as well. Until next time...
